A Message from the Director

Dear Friends of The White Barn,

After celebrating our 30th anniversary and the retirement of Founder and Artistic Director, Nancy Garden, in 2015, we’re setting our course for the next decade. We thank you for celebrating our landmarks and supporting our future. Your 2015 donations and attendance at White Barn events provided much needed funding to the Rianda House, Reading is Fun, Get on the Bus, and the Jewish Historical Society of Napa Valley.

Our performance schedule for 2016 starts with a bang with a dynamic readers theater script, Dottie Goes to Hollywood, which explores the end of the Algonquin Roundtable and the unrequited relationship between Dorothy Parker and Robert Benchley, otherwise known as ParkBench. For Valentines day we bring back the romantic Flamenco music of Mark Taylor, a trio performance including dance and song. April also features an old favorite, Le Jazz Hot and in March we celebrate International Women’s Day with a program on Suffragettes. Our Mother’s day offering combines the marvelous music of Vinifera Trio with readings from famous authors to their mother’s. September brings our annual family day event, this year a New Orleans theme featuring the ebullient sounds of the Saint Gabriel Celestial Brass Band, Poe Pourri in October, celebrating the stories of Edgar Allan Poe in film, theatrics and shadow play. We will offer three performances of Bad Dates, a one woman show starring Jennifer King, Artistic Director of NV Conservatory, and we hope to see all White Barn fans in attendance at our very festive holiday programming in December.

Tickets: Get your tickets early!
Due to our current success using Brown Paper Tickets on our website, where the press of a button allows instant access to tickets, most of our shows in 2015 were sold out. Please provide us with your email address on the return card to receive convenient reminders of upcoming events and review our enclosed ‘refrigerator calendar’ to plan your White Barn attendance. Ordering advance tickets for popular events is highly recommended as our wonderfully intimate setting provides limited seating! www.thewithebarn.org.

Because we depend on individual tax-deductible contributions to pay talented performers, offer charitable donations and maintain our beloved performing arts center, please consider becoming a “Musical Note.” Donations in any amount are meaningful to us. If you are interested in underwriting specific programs at the White Barn, please feel free to contact Programming Director, David Garden Jr. for more information. As we enter our 31st year of operation, we are delighted and encouraged to hear from audience members that the White Barn continues to enhance the cultural life of our community by providing a mix of programming that includes rare and interesting gems as well as popular offerings. 2016 is a year in which board members of The White Barn and the community at large, renew our commitment to support and celebrate the intimate, inspired venue that has enriched our lives with music and art for three decades.

Here’s to the exciting year ahead! See you at the White Barn!
